Baysgarth School Sports Partnership
School Sports partnerships are central to the government to raising standards in schools, not just in Pe and sport. First launched in September 2000 funded by Sport England with the aim of giving a minimum of 2 hours high quality PE and Sport a week for every child aged 5-16 years. The Baysgarth School Sport Partnership consists of six secondary schools and 39 primary, junior and infant schools from the North Lincolnshire region. Also North Lindsey College and John Leggott College are now welcomed to the partnership. The Hub for the Partnership is at Baysgarth School.
Our Work
At BSSP we have several projects under way to help
encourage young people to get involved.
Our work strategies are varied to aim to incorporate every
young person.
Projects such as positive play are aimed at primary school
level, whereas we then have projects such lifelong learning
which is aimed at secondary school level.
Leadership
Leadership
and volunteering is an important area of the BSSP. This work
provides children and young people in our partnership the
opportunity to get involved in becoming leaders and learning the
benefits of volunteering either within school or in the local
community. Leadership and volunteering can give young people so
many opportunities to both learn about themselves as well as
learning valuable life skills such as confidence, leadership,
communication and organisational skills. This also gives the
young people or children a sense of responsibility which can
prepare them for later life. The sense of responsibility can
also help those people who may not normally get involved with
such projects and improve behaviour. There are also many
positive benefits for the community or school where these young
people get involved. Clubs can gain valuable coaches in the
future if their students decide to stop and help the club after
the project. Leadership and volunteering projects are happening
all over the country as well as partnership developed projects
and this is a key area of focus for BSSP.
